I’m an award-winning author and teacher who studies the art of activism, paying particular attention to the role joy, laughter, and pleasure play in creating and sustaining social change. My work takes many forms, from academic books and mainstream journalism to community-based plays and the staging of “patriot acts” – political performances on national holidays. A seasoned administrator, I’ve led academic units, helmed arts-based coalitions, and served on the Board of Directors for several non-profit organizations. In my free time, I am rehabbing a lake cottage with the hopes of establishing a writing retreat for artists and scholars.
